It was being speculated in certain quarters that Rajinikanth, a close friend of Shatrughan Sinha, could feel slightly uncomfortable romancing Sonakshi Sinha in his next film with K S Ravikumar. This feeling had more to do with the Superstar's closeness to Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi's father, than her age.

“When Rajnikanth’s arch-rival Kamal Haasan had cast Sonakshi in ‘Vishwaroopam’ it was the role of a woman married to a man far older than she. Sonakshi Sinha had backed out feigning a date problem. If Sonakshi is going to be cast with Rajinikanth who is far older than Kamal, the pairing would have to be rationalized for the north Indian audiences. In south, Rajni Sir’s fans are used to seeing him work with heroines his daughter’s age,” says the Chennai source.

Sonakshi says, "I am finally making my debut in the South. I could not have asked for a better project to start with; it's a wonderful story and it's opposite the one and only Rajini sir. I am looking forward to expanding my horizons with this project."

The source adds, "The team has also approached Anushka for the film, and she, too, has to re-schedule work to accommodate this film."

Meanwhile, a section of the media has been reporting that the Rajinikanth-KS Ravikumar project will go on floors from April 20. However, the source tells us that work on the film will begin only after this month. The source says,

 "There's a lot of groundwork to be done before shooting can begin. The team is looking at going on floors in May."
